Trained in the 1990s by his uncle, the famous Navajo artist K*i*r*k  S*m*i*t*h, Dean Brown has elevated his art to become one of the most skillful and productive of all the revivalist artists in the Four Corners area. He specializes in old style cluster pieces with old pawn finishes usually with a lot of deeply impressed ornate hand stamped designs. Row bracelets are near the top of his favorites list, and this bracelet is near the top of my list :-) It's a classic three row design that Dean's grandfather, N*e*a*l  B*r*o*w*n, and K*i*r*k have made variations of for several years. With a Dean Brown cluster bracelet, you can count on superb artistic impression, careful stone selection, meticulous bezel and lapidary work, and a substantial bracelet. This colorful and exceptionally well crafted bracelet with an old pawn finish features twenty-two round 3/32nds" in diameter genuine natural Mediterranean red coral cabochon stones in two rows and eleven oval 9/32nds" by 7/32nds"sky blue clear heart Sleeping Beauty cabochon stones. The Sleeping Beauty mine is located in east central Arizona. Twisted tope overlays frame the row of turquoise stones, and Dean added ten rows of sterling silver raindrop bead overlays between each stone and a thick half round wire overlay at both ends of the stone channel. A great deal of artistry of this fine bracelet lies in the intricate, deeply impressed stamping designs Dean usually decorates his bracelets' shanks and interior surface. This particular design utilizes individual designs to create a pictorial story scene of sunbursts, sunrays, mountains, and cactus -- a brief 'picture' of the high desert. This same theme is continued on the inside surface. This cuff style bracelet is 1" wide from terminal to terminal and is ¼" thick in ther stone channel. It has an inside measurement of 5½" with a very difficult to adjust opening gap of 1¼." If your wrist is 6½" to 6¾," this should fit with little or extremely careful adjustment of the shanks and/or terminals. With genuine Mediterranean red coral at all time high and getting more so every hour, bracelets like this are scarce making the most traditional of all Navajos tone combinations nearly extinct.
