The chimes are activated from the silver pendant and the sound is created by steel hammers striking on an inner steel bell (bell cracked at an earlier stage but expertly repaired). The sound on the repeat mechanism is clear, loud and pleasant. The verge movement is supported by fancy baluster pillars and is centered by a single footed early pierced balance cock with a mask at center. The mechanism is signed “Drakrub London.” The inner silver case is chased with leaf patterns around the pierced sound enhancing openings. The outer silver case is plain polished with a box-style hinge.
