Winning bidder will choose which alphabet letter they would like to receive.   Each pin is composed of  Sterling with Gold Vermeil and Swarovski Crystals. Each Pin measures approximately 1 1/2"W x 1"H.  Each pin will come with a Certificate of Authenticity from the publisher, Sevenarts Ltd and signed by Erte.   Erté had often expressed a desire to design jewelry but doubted that artisans could be found with the necessary skills for the intricate works that he wished to create.  Through a chance meeting with Natalie Kane,  who had her own jewelry atelier in Santa Fe, New Mexico, Erté’s dream could finally become a reality.   Ms. Kane, along with Circle Galleries, established an Erté atelier where, for the next decade, they produced, in limited editions, the highly successful Art to Wear fine jewelry program.  Circle galleries ceased trading in 1991 and production ended.   Using the original molds and models, and under the supervision of Ms. Kane, Erté’s long time collaborator on the Art To Wear collection, the Four Seasons Design Group, well renowned for its museum reproductions, has been able to revive production.  Erté’s authorized signature is affixed to each work in the edition.   One of the best-known and most sought-after works by Erté is his Alphabet.  In his autobiography, My Life/My Art, he wrote:  “Drawing has been my favorite pastime from the age of three or four, so when I was taught to read and write, I was absolutely fascinated by the alphabet”.  Fascinated also by the beauty and grace of the human form, he created over many years a series of gouache drawings combining the alphabet and human figures.  The jewelry designs were interpreted as two series of brooches, one with freestanding figures and one with the letters in relief on onyx, and framed.  Each letter is a full figure, with the faces no larger than the head of a pin.  The molds were made of tin, rather than the usual rubber, in order to retain the fine details.   Winning bidder will choose ONE alphabet letter they would like to receive.     Each pin is priced at $249.99 each.
