Victorian Celluloid ClawSet Rhinestones Hair Back Comb Start Price USD 49.99 Current Price USD 49.99 Time Left - Bid Count 0 Buy It Now Price - Reserve Price - Start Time Friday, September 05, 2008 End Time Friday, September 12, 2008 Location Cool Colorful Colorado See more about 'Victorian Celluloid ClawSet Rhinestones Hair Back Comb ' Description Here for your bidding consideration is this Vintage VICTORIAN MOTTLED COLORED CELLULOID HAIRCOMB OR HAIR COMB OR BACK COMB WITH CLAW SET CLEAR RHINESTONES.   Maybe some of you would call this Faux Tortoise Shell Celluloid, but I think it looks more of a mottled brown celluloid.  The Rhinestones are all there and are claw set in a silvertone metal that is mounted on top of the back comb.  These go all across the top of the comb.   It measures 3 1/4" tall and 4 1/2" at the widest.  This Hair Comb is in great condition and all tines are perfect.  I would date this between 1880 - 1900.   This back comb bows out slightly to give a better fit to the back of the head.  No cracks or chips.  No marks.  This does have hand pierced work. This came from an estate sale so it has therefore been worn and/or used.  Does show wear and some scratches from useage.  It could really use a GOOD cleaning, but I will leave that to the new owner to do, as you collectors have taught me to never try to spiff things up.
